Commemorating the World Habitat Day and World Cities Day in Lilongwe.

Yesterday, 7th October 2024, we joined UN-HABITAT, The Ministry of Local Government, Culture and Unity (MLGCU), Lilongwe City Council and other like minded organizations and institutions in commemorating the World Habitat Day and World Cities Day in Lilongwe.

This year’s global theme is “Engaging the youth for a better urban future,” focusing on involving young urban residents in planning through participatory processes and local leadership. This theme speaks to our work and that of other Slum Dwellers International – SDI. affiliates in creating an urban youth movement that is able to engage, plan and advocate for bold actions to tackle problems faced in urban environments.
